Atletico Madrid cerca un difensore destro argentino di 20 anni per migliorare la difesa

Atletico Madrid is looking to revamp their defense this summer, and Nahuel Molina’s position could be in jeopardy, as Diego Simeone tends to trust other players ahead of the former Udinese man. Sporting Director Andrea Berta has his sights set on the right-back Agustin Giay from San Lorenzo, who could potentially challenge Molina for his spot in the national team.

The Argentine under-20 captain, who has already made 76 appearances, has expressed openness to a summer transfer, stating “I’m focused on San Lorenzo until June, then, why not make the jump?”. Giay caught Berta’s attention last summer and remains a target with an asking price of €8m.

Several clubs are monitoring him, as his current contract runs until 2025.

The competition for Giay is fierce, with Lazio, Milan, Benfica, Olympique Marseille, and even Al-Sadd of Qatar showing interest, according to Marca. The 20-year-old is also a top target for Granada. Sporting Director Matteo Tognozzi had previously scouted him for Juventus, but their potential relegation to Segunda could hamper their chances of signing the young talent.

Atletico Madrid had invested €20m in Molina two years ago, but he has struggled with errors in his performances at times. Simeone has frequently opted to use Marcos Llorente as a makeshift right-back against tougher opponents instead of Molina.
