Ex campione del mondo vede “liberazione” in Carlos Sainz

Il “liberato” Sainz?
“Ferraris decision to release him may have liberated Sainz,” said former Formula 1 world champion Damon Hill in the latest edition of the F1 Nation podcast, analyzing the Spaniard’s situation and race. “It may have freed him to go and say, ‘Well, I am here for myself. And I will use this Ferrari and I will do what I do – and you can tell me to stop or whatever, but it doesn’t matter, because I am fighting for my survival.’ And when people are down, they either get back up or they stay down and hide, and he is not that kind of person.” Hill, the 1996 world champion, expressed his utmost respect for Sainz. Later in the conversation, Hill also praised Sainz’s ability to handle a lot of information during a race, unlike Leclerc, who often sounds brusque on the radio. This might be one of the Spaniard’s great strengths.

Touching, emotional, honoring
This year marks not only the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s death, but also that of Roland Ratzenberger. The Austrian died in an accident at Imola in 1994, and several years ago, film producer and family friend Peter Levay released the film “The long way to short happiness” on Prime Video. This year, we can look forward to a documentary series on Levay Film Productions’ YouTube page, which will be available starting April 8. A heartfelt recommendation from us!

Too shy
Last week, I highlighted the moment in the Formula 1 live ticker when Charles Leclerc, during his debut weekend in Australia, was gifted a huge snake around his neck and visibly feared it. This weekend, during a panel on stage in the F1 Fanzone at the track, he was shown the scene again and I believe he would react differently today. “I was too shy to say no,” he said. Although he still doesn’t feel comfortable with the images.
